Holidays for addicts



Holidays for addicts are like every other day and that those of us with addictions have to satisfy those addictions. Especially if those addictions are opiate-based, because we’re going to be physically sick, and very sick too if we don’t do what we have to do to get what the body needs. Of course there are varieties to this generalization. For some people holidays are painful reminders of what they have lost in terms of family that no longer speak to them or kids that we don’t know anything about because there were abouts are lost to us through foster care or custody battles. Holidays can be very sad. Sometimes people on the street ignore holidays and just go on as if it’s just another day but other times people on the street make sure they say things like happy Thanksgiving or go to community events where there’s free food or some other festivity we don’t necessarily ignore holidays. But we don’t let them get in our way either. People might ask how can you think of getting high at a time like this and that is kind of a silly thing to say it’s like saying to someone how can you think of using the bathroom at a time like this.
