Addictions will take all of your money. Addiction works differently than hunger for food. You’re never full. The more you do the more you want to do, the more your brain tells you you need to do. Addiction is a marketers dream. Once it takes hold, there need not be any outside influence such as peer pressure. The drive to get that thing is self perpetuating. That drive is internal and eternal. Everything you know causes you to expect to get enough, that there is a place called enough. But that place is gone while you still operate on the principle of acquisition to produce satiety. That paradigm no longer holds true. But you spend everything trying to get there. “Everything” is different for everyone and in this way the price is individual and unique while being uniform and common. Pretty contradictory, yes? No wonder we cannot cure addiction
